3 YEARS LATER ......
After Nora's sudden evasion from helmer 3 years earlier they both come to an ultimate stave. Both Helmer and Nora are living their own unperturbed lives. Then all of a sudden they pass each other while going to the near supermarket.
Helmer: hello Nora
Nora: [abruptly stopping with confusion] hello kind sir ? [not recognizing who it is]
Helmer: it's me Nora, Torvald
Helmer is changed and looks completely different now
Nora: [blundering her words] Torvald ? How is everything ? Like how is life ? How are the children ?
Helmer: everything is good and well Nora, the children are fine but they do miss you
Nora: I shall come see them soon
Helmer: please do, after all children do need to see their own mother
Helmer: may I care you to a cup of tea ?
Nora: well I guess that's fine
The two talk while having their tea. They suppress all that's happened in the past and reunite as friends
Nora: it's getting pretty late, maybe I should get home
Helmer: it is, maybe you should
Nora: thank you very much for the tea
Nora: may I call you to set up a meeting with the children
Helmer: you're welcome and of course you can
Nora: have a nice life Torvald
Helmer: you as well Nora
They both part ways without any hassle or consult. Their lives shall be parted and without each other .
This ending would calm the nerves of most readers that wanted Nora to stay with Torvald. I like this ending a lot more than the original just because the couple see each other as friends and not “enemies”. In this ending though I was surprised when Nora agreed to visit the children knowing the guilt will catch up with her.
ReplyDeleteIt nice that they're on good terms now. Nora definitely should see her children. I mean it has been three years ...... .____.
ReplyDeleteNora and Helmer were very cordial towards each other. I thought when Nora recognized him she would lash out at him. I wonder who the kids are living with now, or if they're still with Torvald. It's interesting to know that they live so close to each other.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting reading Nora and Helmer's interactions. Both were pretty court and civilized in speaking and there seemed to be no undertones of any anger displayed by either party. I think it was nice that you ended their relationship on civilized terms.
ReplyDeleteNora and Torvald's interaction was very civil. I thought that it was interesting how Nora didn't recognize Torvald after three years. I would like to know what happened if Nora recognized Torvald. I also want to know what happened with Nora and the children. I also liked that Nora asked to see her children and that Torvald agreed to her meeting her children. I also found it funny that they meet at the nearby supermarket, a quirky way to meet. I enjoyed reading your continuation of the ending.
ReplyDeleteI really like your version of the ending. Although I was surprised Nora agreed to see the children after 3 years. In my opinion I thought she would be too guilty to see them.
ReplyDeleteI kind of find it disappointing that Nora didn't COMPLETELY sever her ties with Torvald. But still I like how this ending raps things up in a calm, and peaceful way. I also like the fact you let Nora keep in touch with her kids.
